I think it's time to blog. I feel a strong need to inform you about the music I love, and to tell you about the latest bands I have discovered. Nothing more.
Labrador are from Denmark. Their inspiration comes from the classic age of pop. Think of Prefab Sprout, Edwyn Collins, Tahiti 80, Burt Bacharach, Trevor Horn and Lloyd Cole.
As some of you may know, Stewart's and Jen's daughter Tallulah, nearly 3, was recently diagnosed as autistic, which has resulted in a year of intense ups and downs for them.
And here's one of the most interesting German musicians and producers of our times. He is one of the people who put shoegazing back onto the map of pop music.
Two If By Sea is a long distance collaboration between Teresa Daniele (formerly of The Haircuts), Lisle Mitnik (Fireflies / Very Truly Yours) and Kevin Clark (Homeville Circle / Wooden Owls). They have released a wonderful 5-track 7" EP now. A must-have for friends of The Cat's Miaow, The Softies, Hydroplane, Françoise Hardy, Isobel Campbell...
Still one of my favourite record labels. This video shows some of the best Elefant moments in 2010! The song you hear is 'How Many Days In Forever' performed by Milkyway. Taken from the new Elefant sampler 'Space Escapade.'
This song is taken from the new "Celebrate What You Can't See" EP on Sonic Cathedral Records. Team Ghost is a collaboration between Nicolas Fromageau, multi-instrumentalist composer Christophe Guerin and producer Jean-Philippe Talaga. Fromageau was originally one half of M83 on their first two albums.
German blog 'Coast Is Clear' and 'Some Velvet Morning' radio show from Bremen offer a free download compilation entitled 'Some Velvet Coast Compilation #1' - featuring a brand new track by Secret Shine, amongst others like The Mary Onettes, Sambassadeur, Levy, Cats On Fire, Wild Nothing... Please click here to get to the 'Coast Is Clear' blog for further informations and download link.
And now something differnent from Australia. You can call it 60s psychedelia. This great song is taken from Tame Impala's debut album 'InnerSpeaker,' accompanied by a very surrealistic film.
Here the latest single of the wonderful Kabeedies. This song reminds me of some great, jangly 80s indie bands. The Kabeedies have a wide variety of influences such as The Smiths, Blur, Blondie, The Strokes, Devo, and Buddy Holly.
The Cavalcade have their debut album out on Pebbles Records, entitled 'Many Moons.' The Cavalcade are an indiepop band from Preston in the north of England, inspired by bands such as Felt, The Clientele and The Field Mice.
Anybody into Coldplay? Here's the vid of their new single 'Christmas Lights.' Very pathetic. The song starts after a little advertisement. Coldplay - Christmas Lights
The Answering Machine is a great guitar band from Manchester, UK, even though their sound reminds me of The Wombats. It's also a lot of (early) Wedding Present in there. Watch their enjoyable vid here.
The Megaphonic Thrift are a new signing to Club AC30. There will be a single soon and debut album in mid-February 2011. I think they have listened a lot to Sonic Youth records.
WIAIWYA offers a free festive sampler to download for a limited period. Featuring songs by Betty and the Werewolves, Eux Autres, Gregory Webster, DJ Downfall, and many more. Just click here
